This entry is purely for historical purposes. I received my West Virginia Very Important Parks Person Participation Card in the mail some time around mid October, 2015. So on Friday, November 6, 2015 I set out from Manassas, VA. The goal was to visit

Cacapon Resort State Park   and   Berkeley Springs State Park, WV

to get my card stamped as part of this program.

I remember that it was a cool and cloudy day. So I took I66 to I81 to VA37

I backpacked the Tuscarora Trail not far from here in 2009.

to US522 to the Virginia/West Virginia border. Cacapon Resort State Park was just a few miles past the border. Julie and I had stayed there a year ago prior to this trip. Hiking, fishing, golfing and just chilling out was what was happening here.

So I got my WV VIPP card stamped here, then proceeded about 15 miles further north on US522 to the town of Berkeley Springs, WV. Berkeley Springs State Park is located here within the town limits. The main attraction here is the mineral spa that people can soak in. The water here is a constant 74.3 degrees. There is a formal looking dining establishment right next to the

park that looks interesting but that I have never been to.

It took me awhile to find a place to park. Then it took me awhile to find the office to get my card stamped. But I did, then made the leisurely trip back home. These were the first two West Virginia State Parks that I visited as part of the

WV VIPP program.
