were great! But I wanted to camp here. So in 2009 I led a backpacking trip to Annapolis Rocks along the AT in MD.

My mind is fuzzy as far as who was on this one. I know that Jim Casserly was there as there is a picture of him below. I'm guessing that Charlie Johnson, Bill and Chris Isham were there as well. It was only a few miles from the parking area on US40 north along the AT to the Annapolis Rocks side trail. The weather was nice, we got a group site right near the spring, the view from Annapolis Rocks were fantastic.

I remember watching a drag racing strip in the valley below. We could see the cars start racing but the sound of the engines did not reach us for 3-5 seconds. They have a caretaker there as well as the standard AT privy.

I don't know why they named this area for Annapolis as it faces the opposite way from Annapolis, MD. Maybe it was because the views were so beautiful that it deserved to be named after the capital of the Free State? Anyway, I finally got to camp at Annapolis Rocks. This was a nice easy Camp & Hike.

I camped here again in 2016 when I backpacked the AT from Harpers Ferry, WV to PenMar, MD with Ed Sessoms.
